Nike filed a lawsuit on Wednesday (January 25) in New York against fashion brand A Bathing Ape, also known as BAPE, alleging that they copied some of Nike's most famous shoes.

In the lawsuit, Nike states that BAPE's footwear business "revolves around copying Nike's iconic designs," specifically Nike's Air Force 1, Air Jordan 1, and Dunk sneakers. Nike claims they reached out to BAPE to stop them from copying their designs, adding that the company refused.

"BAPE's copying is and always has been unacceptable to Nike, and because BAPE's infringements have recently grown to become a significant danger to Nike's rights, Nike must act now," the lawsuit reads. Nike is requesting that BAPE stop manufacturing their shoes, and they are also seeking an unspecified amount in damages.
