Lil Tjay recently sat down for an interview with Rolling Stone, where he opened up about being shot 7 times last June by an armed robber outside a Chipotle in Edgewater, New Jersey. While the incident left Lil Tjay in a coma for five days, he explained that he's more motivated now than ever.

Lil Tjay stated, "Right now, I'm charged up. I just took seven shots. I'm not on no tough-guy sh*t, or on some angel sh*t. I feel like a miracle kid. I feel like my purpose is bigger than I know. I'm just trying to figure out what life got in store for me. I know that I'm destined to win. I'm destined to be great. All I've been doing was capitalizing off of setbacks. I just had a big-ass setback. I just feel like it charged me up, because it's more to overcome."

While speaking about the shooting, Lil Tjay explained, "I was mad. Not sad, not scared. I was just mad like, 'Yo, it’s over that quick? I didn’t just kill myself … I just let somebody do that to me?' I felt like I f***ed up, like I could've been moving smarter."

Lil TJay went on to speak about waking up after being in a coma for five days, not being able to speak at first, and doctors taking a bullet out of his neck with anesthesia because he didn't want to be put under again. He also suffered a fever that spiked to lethal levels and required emergency attention, but thankfully, Lil Tjay survived the ordeal.

During the conversation, Lil Tjay recalled getting phone calls from Diddy and 50 Cent, and he shared advice from Fif, who famously survived being shot nine times at close range. Lil Tjay says 50 Cent told him, "Every artist needs pain or something to feed off of. This right here, you shake this sh*t off. You got the length for greatness. You going to be bigger than ever."
