According to reports, 56-year-old Angila Baxter was arrested by police at the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Florida this past Friday for the shooting death of a woman named Nekaybaw Collier on January 12.
Baxter allegedly shot a firearm at random cars and vehicles passing her and hit Collier’s vehicle. Police claim the woman said she was being followed around by multiple people when she started letting off gunfire at cars and people passing by. As a result, Collier was struck by a shot and killed.
The Sheriff’s Office issued a statement on the death of Collier, saying, “We extend our deepest condolences to Nekaybaw’s family for the senseless killing of this young mother, wife, and daughter.” The victim was found unresponsive in her vehicle and pronounced dead after being taken to a nearby hospital.
Deputies say a witness identified Baxter as the person “shooting at cars and screaming expletives at random people in the area” after being chosen out of a photo lineup. After being interviewed by detectives, Baxter noted she didn’t remember the shootings but told the police she pulled out her gun in the same area where the victim was killed. The suspect admitted to shooting her weapon in the air because a woman was following her and also admitted to shooting at several other cars at the same time.
Since being arrested, Baxter was booked into the Orange County Jail.
