On Friday, Patrick Johnson (27) of Chicago, Illinois, was indicted by a grand jury for the brutal murder of Veronica Lopez (15) in 2016. The murder in racketeering allegedly stems from Patrick's intention to move up the ranks of a criminal organization based in his hometown called the 'Milwaukee Kings. A gang is known for rivaling similar groups, such as the Gangsta Disciples and the Maniac Latin Disciples.

"The indictment alleges that the Milwaukee Kings is a criminal organization whose members and associates engaged in narcotics trafficking and committed acts of violence, including murder and assault, to acquire and preserve the gang’s territory," the U.S. Attorney's Office explained.

The killing took place on Memorial Day weekend, a three-day span known throughout the city of Chicago as one of the murderous times of the year. Patrick reportedly shot Lopez down while she was the passenger in someone's vehicle. Details about his defense attorney are yet to have been revealed.
