Gervonta "Tank" Davis beat Hector Luis Garcia during Saturday (January 7) night's fight in Washington, D.C.'s Capital One Arena.
Over 19,000 fans packed the arena for the fight, as things got off to a slow start for the two fighters. However, things heated up in Round 4, as Davis and Garcia were seen exchanging heavy hits at close-range. The fight was paused 58 seconds into Round 8 after a dispute in the crowd involving Meek Mill got so out of hand ringside.
When the fight resumed, Gervonta landed a fight-ending punch to Garcia, who complained to his corner that he couldn't see. Garcia was unable to answer the bell for the start of Round 9, giving Davis the TKO victory.
Gervonta said, "I was a little surprised but when I caught him, I knew that he was hurt and that he was hurt bad. He's a fighter and I know he didn't want to show it but he was hurt."
Garcia also confirmed his injury, stating, "When I got the shots to the head in the final round, I couldn't see anymore."
