Nearly four weeks after seeing Coach Prime step down from his position as head football coach at Jackson State University for the University of Boulder Colorado, the HBCU community welcomes NFL Hall of Famer Ed Reed to the fold. The man whom many professional football pundits regard as the greatest free safety to have ever graced an NFL field earned nine Pro Bowl honors, a Defensive Player of the Year Award, and a Super Bowl ring with the Baltimore Ravens. He's also a member of the league's all-100th anniversary All-Time team. On paper, his career stats as a defensive back are on par with the resume of Deion Sanders. Both men were renowned "ball hawks" with a knack for making big plays after an interception.

Now that he's been hired as the new head football coach at Bethune–Cookman University, Ed Reed has the chance to duplicate his former teammate's success in the Southwestern Athletic Conference, an association where the Jackson State University Tigers currently reign as champion.

The similarities between Coach Prime and Ed Reed don't stop there; according to reports, the latter was offered the head coaching position at JSU shortly after Deion Sanders announced his departure. The Bethune-Cookman Wildcats finished last season with a record of 2-9. The college is located in Daytona Beach, Florida. The team's new coach, Ed Reed, previously held an assistant coaching position on Rex Ryan's staff with the Buffalo Bills in 2016.
