Update 11/30/2022 9:50am:

DDG went viral after a clip of his recent interview on the Dope As Usual podcast showed him using his "real voice," which is unusually deep. DDG stunned the hosts of the podcast, and viewers sounded off on social media about how they were also caught off guard.

DDG then uploaded a vlog to his YouTube page, where he spoke about why he doesn't use his real voice in public. He explained, "I did like, a podcast a little bit ago and I exposed my real voice – and this just goes to show why I don’t use it. I just get real insecure, I don’t like to really, like, expose myself like that."

DDG added, "I like to stay low-key and just be who I am. And a lot of people be like, ‘Damn, why don’t you just talk in your real voice or rap in your real voice?’ I just feel like it’s too mu’f**kin deep, so I be trying to like, talk regular."

DDG also stated that he thinks that people would joke about his real voice, which is why he changes it when speaking on videos and in his music. He explained, "It’s just easier for me to grow as a musical artist, creator and sh*t. I just feel like if I use my deep voice, a lot of y’all wouldn’t take me seriously, and it’d be like, funny. I see a lot of people laughing about it and sh*t, and that’s just like, that’s why I don’t like really using it like that. A lot of motherf**kers take that sh*t like it’s a motherf**kin’ joke, but it’s just me like, opening up."

DDG recently sat down for an interview on the Dope As Usual podcast, and the host, Dope As Yola, revealed that they got a lot of requests from viewers asking about DDG's "real voice."

Yola asked DDG, "Maybe it’s an inside joke, we had 200 people say, 'ask him about his real voice.' Like what does that mean? Is that an inside joke?"

DDG then spoke in a much deeper tone, stunning the hosts. He then added, "I just talk like this when I wanna make music and content and sh*t, but I really talk like this in real life, you can ask anybody." DDG added that he speaks in his normal voice around family and friends, and he added that he has to make a character when it comes to his rap persona.
