In the days leading up to Thanksgiving day, Karlan and Connie Denio invited their family members to join them for dinner at their home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. When the guests arrived in the afternoon, they were met with a peculiar ambiance, a strange quietness, and a worrisome feeling when they were unable to enter the residence after knocking on the doors and windows. Therefore, they called the 9-1-1. When the authorities arrived and forced entry into the home, Karlan Denio's sister found him lying in bed while body parts belonging to his wife, Connie, were scattered on the bathroom floor. Karlan (62) was subsequently arrested for first-degree murder, he is currently being treated at a local hospital for lacerations.
In the wake of the horrific incident, Rich Cordova, Karlan, and Connie Denio's neighbor called the former couple "nice folks," stating how "stunned" he was by the turning of events on Thanksgiving.
