According to reports, Grandmaster Jay, leader of the pro-Black gun activist group Not F***ing Around Coalition, has been sentenced to seven years in prison on charges related to the Breonna Taylor protests.
Grandmaster Jay, real name John Fitzgerald Johnson, was accused of pointing an AR-15 rifle at two federally deputized officers in downtown Louisville during the 2020 protest over the death of Breonna Taylor. In May, a federal jury convicted Johnson on one count of “assaulting, resisting or impeding” law enforcement, and one count of “brandishing a firearm in relation to a crime of violence.”
Johnson is ineligible for parole and will be on three years of supervised release after serving the entirety of his 86-month sentence.
