It was previously reported that Kanye West couldn’t legally sell the ‘White Lives Matter’ tees he featured at his YZY Season 9 show in Paris because two Black men—Quinton Ward and Ramses Ja already own the trademark. In order for the rapper to get the rights to the phrase, he’ll have to put out a billion dollars, according to one of the rights owners.
Ramses Ja recently spoke to TMZ and said they are not looking to sell the trademark, but any person looking to buy would have to present at least $1 billion for them to consider. The owner said the payday would be hard to look past, mainly because they would do “so much good with that kind of money.”
It was noted that an anonymous listener of the ‘Civic Cipher’ radio show by Ja and Ward purchased the trademark, and then ownership of the trademark was transferred to the hosts from there. Watch above.
