A California man took a chance with his life after he entered the 405 Freeway in Los Angeles while in his wheelchair during heavy traffic.

Footage showed a man wheeling himself onto the 405, seemingly putting himself in a dangerous predicament as vehicles zoomed by. The man in the wheelchair reportedly slowed traffic by Santa Monica Boulevard while some cars had to sit behind him to avoid an accident.

According to reports, California Highway Patrol officers stopped the man and detained him near the Santa Monica Boulevard exit around 11:50 pm. CHP Officer Gianfranco Pepi says the man was upset after he attempted to seek services at the Department of Veteran Affairs in West Los Angeles. Police asked the man where he was going and gave him a ride to a homeless shelter he was traveling to in South Los Angeles. However, the shelter was closed when they arrived. Pepi noted the man was able to get services from the VA when they brought him back to West LA. Watch above.
