Six years ago, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conner McGregor engaged in a war of words on Twitter. At the time, trash talk between the two biggest names in boxing and MMA was merely viewed as entertaining banter as no one actually thought they would actually square off in a sanctioned professional fight; but it happened. The boxing match was Mayweather's second highest-grossing fight of all time, and his MMA opponent lasted 10-rounds before getting TKO'd in the 10th round. The Mayweather-McGregor rivalry is dead and gone now that both men are past their heyday. Now, it looks like another charismatic fighter is looking to pick up the mantle with a highly publicized fight that transcends boxing and MMA.

On Saturday, Jake Paul defeated UFC legend Anderson Silva (47) in a highly competitive boxing matchup, where Silva landed more punches but ultimately lost by TKO in round 8. Although Jake Paul improved his boxing record to 6-0, people have been quick to point out his proclivity for hand-picking retired athletes who are in their prime as opponents. Nevertheless, during the post-fight press conference, the 25-year-old clapped back at his naysayers by indicating that his latest victory should earn him respect amongst professional fighters. But that wasn't the rebuttal that fight fans were talking about after Paul-Silva. When Jake Paul was interviewed in the ring following his win, he called out an MMA fighter Nate Diaz, and a current boxing champion, Canelo Álvarez, both of whom are active fighters.

"I want Nate Diaz, who's a b*tch; he tried to come into my locker room, he tried to start some sh*t, and then he always leaves the f*cking arena," Jake Paul said as he caught his breath in the ring. "So, Nate Diaz stop being a b*tch and fight me. And Canelo...you too...you too, Canelo. You guys said, 'Oh you can't beat someone, you can't beat a legend, you can't beat a striker like Andrson Silva. I just did. So, why can't I beat Canelo? F*ck y'all."
