In the summer of 2021, the Los Angeles Lakers brokered a deal to send Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Montrezl Harrell, and the 22nd overall pick of the 2021 NBA draft to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Russell Westbrook. The trade gave the Lakers a bonafide "Big Three," with a trio of future hall of farmers still fully capable of playing at a high level on the court. It also gave the Lakers +350 odds of winning the NBA championship before the 2021 regular season began. What a difference a year makes, Westbrook finished last season ranked number two in turnovers, and this season he's among the worse three-point shooters in the league.

Fair or unfair, the first-ballot Hall of Famer has become the scapegoat for the Lakers' on-court woes and lack of cohesiveness. At this point, it doesn't appear as though Westbrook wants to remain in Los Angeles, nor do the Lakers want him. Laker fans have also reached a boiling point when it comes to their frustration with Westbrook's shot selection and lack of productivity. A video clip recently surfaced of a Lakers fan telling the Nine-time NBA All-Star that he "sucks a*s." The Lakers fan must have forgotten that Westbrook once confronted a Utah Jazz fan and his wife during a game for making unsavory comments. The confrontation resulted in Westbrook making some serious threats and the fans getting banned. In this case, when Westbrook confronted the Lakers fan, he was being held back by security, and the fan quickly changed his tune when he realized that he genuinely offended the former MVP.
