The Goyim Defense League, a reported white supremacist group, gathered in Los Angeles over the weekend on the 405 freeway, where they hung a banner that read, "Kanye was right about the Jews."

This comes after Kanye shared several messages on social media that were deemed anti-Semitic, including saying he was going "going death con 3 [sic] On JEWISH PEOPLE." Kanye's tweet has been removed from the social media platform, and his account was locked. During an appearance on Piers Morgan's show, Kanye stated that he wasn't sorry for his comments, but he added that he was sorry to the people he hurt.

Several officials in the city, including Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón, condemned the demonstration. Gascón wrote on Twitter, "We cannot tolerate the #AntiSemitism that was on full display today [Saturday] on an LA Fwy. #WhiteSupremacy is a societal cancer that must be excised. This message is dangerous & cannot be normalized. I stand with the Jewish community in condemning this disgusting behavior."

Mayor Eric Garcetti also spoke out, writing, "We condemn this weekend’s anti-Semitic incidents. Jewish Angelenos should always feel safe. There is no place for discrimination or prejudice in Los Angeles. And we will never back down from the fight to expose and eliminate it."

According to the L.A. Times, the LAPD and Beverly Hills police departments are investigating the recent distribution of about 25 fliers blaming gun control measures on Jewish people. Several of the fliers obtained by Sam Yebri, a lawyer and former Anti-Defamation League board member, were linked to the Goyim Defense League. Yebri also shared a flier with the Times, which blames the Jewish community for the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Yebri told the Times that Kanye's recent remarks are emboldening people to spread hate speech, "Kanye’s remarks give added air and momentum to the hate that previously was limited to the dark corners of the internet. Now it’s popping up in neighborhoods, at people’s homes and throughout Los Angeles."
