When it comes to gang culture in the rap game, some of the most talked-about locations in California have always been Los Angeles, Compton, Inglewood, and Oakland. That's because these areas have consistently produced trailblazing gangsta rappers and some of the most influential criminal organizations in the world. Hence, the city of San Bernardino is often overlooked in that regard. Located about 60 miles southeast of Los Angeles, San Bernardino is home to a multitude of criminal organizations that have landed on the radar of the DEA and the Gangs/Narcotics Division of the San Bernardino County Police department. Gangs such as West Side Verdugo, 48 Mob, Outrageous 1's, Samoan Warriors, Latin Kings, MS-13, and various sets of Crips frequent the area, which has contributed to the city becoming one of the most murderous places in all of California.

San Bernardino-based rapper Doeboi909 recently went viral for an interview clip where he explained the seriousness behind the violence in his city before stating his belief that San Bernardino is more dangerous than Los Angeles.

"What's something about San Bernardino that people may not know?" Asked the interviewer.

"San Bernardino is one of the most poor and desolate cities in California," Doeboi909 said. "We beating L.A. Our downtown is abandoned."

"Damn...how crazy does it get there?" The interviewer responded.

"I swear to God, we're a bigger murder capital than L.A at times and Chicago. I kid you not, look it up, Google that sh*t....'The Dino' is active, homie...It's really active. Once you get there, you can really feel it, you in the outskirts, and it's all hood."

To add some context to Doeboi909's statement, there have been approximately 526 homicides in Chicago this year. The city of Los Angeles reported about 181 homicides around June of 2022. In contrast, San Bernardino reported 68 murders in 2020. However, when it comes to murder rate calculations, which are based on a city's population, San Bernardino is one of the most murderous cities in America.
