On Tuesday, an up-and-coming Brooklyn Drill rapper nicknamed 'Fourteen' was fatally gunned down as he was exiting his place of employment at Public School 203 (The Floyld Bennett School). Fourteen, whose real name is Ethan Holder, primarily worked as a paraprofessional with underserved children. The events leading up to his traffic death reportedly stem from a walk from Public School 203 to a nearby deli on the corner of Avenue M and Utica Ave. Along the way to his destination, Fourteen was spotted by a gunman wearing a red do-rag, red hoodie, red sweatpants, and a black parka jacket, who then hopped out of a dark-colored Lexus and let out about five rounds in his direction. The shooter hit his target, Fourteen, in the head, prompting the victim to stumble inside Stars Mini Market.
“They shot him outside, and he was trying to run inside,” said an employee who was present during the shooting. “He fell face-up inside our door.”
Shortly after the shooting, Fourteen was taken to the Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in Brooklyn, where he was pronounced dead the following dead. Local authorities have arrested Javier Oates (19) in connection with the shooting. The primary suspect was charged with murder, criminal use of a firearm, and criminal possession of a weapon. Police believe that the murder was planned.
