The re-emergence of the Jeffrey Dahmer story has dominated headlines in crime news ever since DAHMER became available for streaming on Netflix in late September. The cannibal's 13-year rampage has seemingly sparked the public's interest in similar occurrences of the present day, involving kidnappings, serial killings, and cannibalism. A Texas murderer by the name of Andre Thomas recently landed on the radar of the mainstream media, once again, with his appeal to the United States Supreme Court to review the triple-homicide case from 2004, where he reportedly killed his four-year-old son, his one-year-old daughter, and their mother before ripping open their chests and removing their hearts. At the time, Thomas argued that God told him to commit the brutal stabbings.
The death row inmate added to his infamy while behind bars when he removed both of his eyes and devoured one. Now, the 39-year-old reportedly wants out. His latest plea for a new trial was centered around his allegations that he was not given a fair trial in the first place due to a prejudiced all-White jury that had a problem with the interracial matrimony between him and his ex-wife, which is an interesting argument considering that three of the jurors openly admitted to having racist principals. Nonetheless, the Supreme Court decided to rule against Andre's appeal 6-3. Therefore, Andre remains on death row, but the battle to impede his execution is ongoing.
