On Tuesday, September 29th, a woman stood outside of her hotel room in Tulsa (Oklahoma), located on 51st and Harvard, when her night was suddenly interrupted by a trans person named Brandon Herd who pulled up in a yellow car to make an inquiry about the best place to purchase some drugs. After the woman informed Herd that she could not be of assistance, her night took a sudden turn for the worst. Herd reportedly pistol-whipped the woman before shoving her back into her motel room, where she was raped at gunpoint right in front of her elderly roommate.

“He forced his way in at gunpoint - hitting her with a pistol and forcing her further into this room at this hotel and unfortunately committed this rape," said Captain Richard Meulenberg of TPD.  "Not only once but twice. It was pretty awful, he had the gun the entire time.”

The rape was followed by a pillaging of the entire motel room as Herd made off with the victim's items. When the police search for the assailant got underway, law enforcement struggled to pinpoint Herd's location with a helicopter, largely because they couldn't identify Herd's gender. The perpetrator was arrested the following day, after eventually being spotted with the victim's items while prostituting in front of a liquor store. Herd is faced with first-degree rape charges, along with robbery by force or fear and failure to register as a sex offender. Herd is currently being held at the Tulsa County jail with a bond set for $205,000.
