According to reports, the entire district police force for the Uvalde School District has been suspended after the fallout from the mass shooting that went down in May 2022

The announcement was made Friday (October 7), and the district reportedly asked that more Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper be placed at campuses and extra-curricular activities. The district said, “We are confident that staff and student safety will not be compromised during this transition.”

The school district noted Ken Mueller and Lt. Miguel Hernandez were placed on administrative leave. Mueller—the district’s Director of Student Services, reportedly elected to retire.

Previously, the school district fired officer Crimson Elizondo, who was hired by the district even though she was under investigation for her conduct as a DPS trooper during the mass shooting. She was reportedly the first DPS trooper to enter the hallway of the school after the shooter gained access to the building but did not bring a gun or vest into the facility. Stay tuned for more updates.
