About two weeks ago, a Colorado woman named Yareni Rios-Gonzalez was apprehended by an officer from the Fort Lupton Police Department for an incident stemming from road rage. What should have been a routine arrest became more puzzling and complicated by the minute when the arresting officer decided to park his car right on top of an active railroad. The arrestee was left handcuffed all by her lonesome in the patrol car while the officers on the scene searched her vehicle for firearms and conversed with one another about how to proceed. That's when the nightmarish scenario for Rios-Gonzalez began. Moments after being arrested, a powerful train horn echoed throughout the air, signifying that the train was nearby and headed their way.
"Oh my god! Oh my god!" Shouted one of the cops as the train horn grew louder.
"It's gonna hit a car; stay back!" Added another officer.
The train smashed into the patrol car, leaving nothing but wreckage and devastation in its wake as it sped off into the night. The suspect was still inside the vehicle during the crash, but she miraculously survived. Rios-Gonzalez suffered a skull fracture, a broken arm, nine broken ribs, a broken arm, broken teeth, and more. She reportedly screamed for help after she initially heard the first train horn, but the officers on hand did not remove her from harm's way in time.
The officer who placed Rios-Gonzales inside the patrol car on the railroad has been placed on paid administrative leave while upper management investigates the incident. The identity of the officers involved has remained concealed.
