TDE President Terrance “Punch” Henderson appeared on Math Hoffa’s ‘My Expert Opinion’ podcast and spoke candidly on Kendrick Lamar’s departure from TDE.
Punch noted, “I care about him generally as a person,” before saying, “But using the analogy like if you got kids, at some point, they gotta go outside. You can’t walk with them everywhere they go. They gotta go out and gather they own experiences.”
He then talked about how he’ll always have a love for the rapper and that you have to allow people the space to figure things out on their own if they have the opening to do so. “Even if they fall on they head, they gotta fall on they head, get up and learn from that and keep moving. You’re concerned always, but it’s still like, ‘I’m proud of you, bro. Do what you do.’ If you need something, the phone is open. Whatever, whatever,” said Punch. Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers’ was his last album on TDE before he launched his label, PGLang.
