Ever since Chief Keef helped popularize Drill music from his native city of Chicago, O-Block has emerged as a legendary staple in hip-hop. In the years following the release of classic songs like "Love Sosa" and "I Don't Like," back in 2012, the legacy of the iconic rapper would eventually be eclipsed by Lil Durk and his OTF signee, King Von. Together, the two O-Block natives took Chicago's rap scene to new heights and endured the story of their surroundings to a wide range of admirers all over the world. King Von was tragically shot in 2020, but his legacy appears to be getting stronger as the years go by. The Chicago Police Department recently attributed the third murder to King Von's record, but that only seemed to add to his growing popularity. Case and point, a little kid recently went viral for having a birthday party with a King Von theme. A picture of the young birthday boy wearing a "Southside" jersey, in reference to South Side Chicago, while surrounded by King Von-inspired snacks and memorabilia got made its rounds on Twitter earlier this week, and it ignited several debates about if the kid's parents were setting a bad example for him allowing him to idolize a gangsta rapper with a known murder record.
"Long live Von but this not it man," wrote a Twitter user.
"There’s no way a child that age should have access to Vons music," added another user.
"King von was and is still bad influence, whether you like his music or not," wrote another commentator on Twitter.
