Four years ago, a famous DUI scene from RENO 911 went viral. The video depicts a drunk cowboy reciting the alphabet backward, perfectly, before dancing during a sobriety test. The character made it look easy, which might explain why a Florida woman named Amy Harrington tried to woo her arresting officer with an Irish folk dance during a sobriety test gone wrong. According to reports, the Maderia Beach native was apprehended by local authorities shortly after she caused a car accident by rear-ending another vehicle on Gulf Boulevard. The 38-year-old reportedly had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech upon being approached by deputies. Hence, the deputy on hand proceeded to administer a field sobriety test, but just as she gave Harrington instructions to walk alongside the yellow line on the pavement, it became more apparent that she was under the influence.
“Do you want to pay attention so I can give you the instructions?” The deputy asked.
“Yeah, well, you sound like my ballet coach, so sounds about right,” Harrington responded.
The mention of ballet seemingly prompted Harrington to break out into an Irish folk dance as a last-ditch effort to display that she was sober. But ultimately, her messy choreography proved the opposite. After eight minutes of failing to follow the deputy's instructions, Harrington was arrested for driving under the influence, just one mile away from her residence. Afterward, a foam cup with yellow liquid was discovered inside her car; test results revealed that it contained alcohol. Although this on-camera incident took place in April, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office just released the body camera footage.
