A mural of the late great Notorious B.I.G. in his hometown of Brooklyn was recently defaced and NYPD is currently searching for the person responsible.

The mural which is located in Brooklyn at the corner of St. James Place and Fulton Street was unveiled in March to commemorate the 25th anniversary of his tragic death.

The vandal reportedly spray painted the mural image and added the words “East Coast” across the painting.

“I think the neighborhood really saw it as he was one of ours, and he made it out and he made something of himself. That’s the story people hold on to,” said artist Vincent Ballentine who spent two days on the mural back in 2019.

“Biggie is a hero to our community, and that’s darn sure not how you spread love the Brooklyn way, as Biggie would say,” NYC Mayor Eric Adams said. “We’re going to look into that and make sure that mural is cleaned up and repaired because this has a place there and it remains there, and we want to find the person responsible.”
