In Australia, boxing kangaroos often live up to their namesake with fierce one-on-one battles that have become a legendary brand of primitive entertainment, for human onlookers, all over the country. An Australian man named Julian Doak recently took a stroll through the Mount Taylor Nature Reserve in Canberra’s south on the north-eastern edge of Kambah (AU) when he stumbled across a pair of boxing kangaroos embroiled in the heat of a physical exchange in the middle of the road. So, he pulled his camera out and began to film the scuffle.

After the two kangaroos threw a bevy of punches, they began to grapple for position. As they clutched one another, the duo spun around until one of the kangaroos managed to shove the other through a metal fence. The robust maneuver caused a loud crashing sound before the victor stood over the broken barricade and watched his foe take the fall. All of this occurred while Julian Doak stood idly by, filming from a short distance away.

"The two ’roos were having a biffo in front of me, and I thought it’d be funny to get a video for family overseas, to show them an average Aussie slice of life,” Doak said of the fight.

The defeated kangaroo was spotted later in the day, hoping down the road, so it does not appear as if either of the animals were injured during the exchange. Skirmishes such as these typically occur between male kangaroos for a variety of reasons ranging from the need for food to the desire to find a mating partner or more territory. They have also been known to fight each other just for fun.
