Part 1: R. Marcos Taylor on Being Trained in Martial Arts: We were Taught How to Kill
--------
In this clip, R.Marcos Taylor takes a deeper dive into an ongoing episode of depression that occurred back in 2017. This time around, the actor revisits an arrest that happened at a bank. Taylor explains that the incident started when a bank teller asked him an inappropriate question about porn which prompted an argument that snowballed into a screaming match where he inadvertently said, "If I have to go to jail, I gotta do something illegal." In response, the police arrested him for making a terrorist threat, along with obstruction of justice and disorderly conduct. As the discussion continues, Taylor explains that a lot of his frustration comes from being "typecasted" into "hood" roles similar to the one he played in "Straight Outta Compton." To that, DJ Vlad offers slight pushback and indicates that he appears to have taken his previous role as Suge Knight to heart, similarly to when 2Pac began to behave somewhat like the Bishop character that he played in the 90's film called "Juice."
As the interview continues, R. Marcos Taylor talks about changing his mentality as a fighter when he was 20 years old. Before then, Marcos explained how he was always scared while inside the ring, almost in spite of his in-ring success. He then discussed the importance of identifying and recognizing signs of mental health issues and how people should seek help, especially those from marginal communities.
