On Monday morning in DeLand, Florida, a naked man emerged from the woods, after picking palmetto berries, in a full sprint with a machete in his hand. He then hit the streets in search of what any naked person in that situation would want: clothes. The machete-wielding man proceeded to go on a bizarre hunt to clothe himself by threatening anyone and everyone within his vicinity in hopes of scaring them out of their garments. When the nude perpetrator found the ideal target, he forced the victim to hand over his clothes, wallet, and phone. But just when it seemed like the assailant's mission was complete, he threw his weapon at the victim, hitting him in the chest with the machete handle, before running away.

As the odd incident played itself out, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office was made aware of the situation, and they soon arrived at the crime scene with a helicopter and patrol vehicles. The remainder of the incident unfolded on camera, as the animated assailant could be seen walking in the middle of traffic and terrorizing drivers before making the random decision to drop down on the scorching hot pavement to do some pushups. From there, he made his way to a gas station near South Spring Garden Avenue, towards a vehicle with all four of its doors open and a truck full of items on the ground. That's when the cops closed in on their suspect, and at that point, he noticed their presence as well. So, he happily laid himself out on the ground before spreading his arms and legs out to surrender.

The unidentified man was taken into custody under Florida's Baker Act in 2021, which means that he will receive a full evaluation regarding his mental health, given the nature of the arrest. The suspect was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, attempted robbery with a deadly weapon, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He is currently being held without bond.
