The incident involving Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars earlier this year has found many commenting on the matter. Will Smith has addressed slapping Chris Rock center stage at the event but hasn’t issued an apology until now.

The actor apologized to Rock and his family via his YouTube channel. The video finds Smith explaining why he didn’t give an apology during his acceptance speech, saying, “I was fogged out by that point. It’s all fuzzy. I’ve reached out to Chris and the message that came back is that he’s not ready to talk and when he is, he will reach out.” Smith continued saying, “So I will say to you, Chris, I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk.”

Will Smith also apologized to Rock’s mother and Tony Rock, with whom he said he had a tight relationship that is now “irreparable.” Take a look above.
