According to reports, a transgender woman at a correctional facility for women in New Jersey reportedly impregnated two other inmates at the prison. As a result, the woman—Demi Minor, had to be moved to another facility.
The 27-year-old was moved from the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women to another space named the Garden State Youth Correctional Facility in Burlington, New Jersey. Minor is serving a 30-year sentence for manslaughter, and a spokesman for the NJ Department of Corrections said the woman was put in a vulnerable unit in the prison where she is the only woman.
Demi Minor wrote about being in the new facility via a blog post on the website Justice 4 Demi, saying, “[NJDOC] have violated my right to be safe and free from sexual harassment, by putting me in one of the most violent youth Correctional facilities. While living here at GYSC, I have found myself under attack by young inmates who are immature and just plain ignorant towards a person like me.” Another post found Minor claiming they were forcibly removed from the women’s prison and beaten while being taken to another facility.
