According to studies, the state of Georgia is home to over 250,000 alligators, making it the fourth highest alligator-populated state in all of the U.S. That being said, there's bound to be a good ole' fashioned man vs. alligator showdown from time to time. Such was the case this week when a Savannah resident named Marquell White engaged in a 26-minute long struggle with a seven-foot-long alligator lurking about at a local park. In an attempt to lure the powerful carnivore away from children playing close by on a swing set, the brave Savannah native grabed the aligator by its tail and dragged it all the way across the park, as onlookers watched in complete shock.
"My first reaction was, what am I doing out here?" White said during an interview about the incident with a local news station. "It wasn't just the fact that the gator was there, becaust gators come and go. You couldn't see the gator because of the grass and the foliage."
White eventually dragged the aligator a body of water nearby, where let it go freely. Fortunately, neither the man nor the aligator were injured during this occurrence.
