According to reports, a 21-year-old folk singer named Yrma Lydya was tragically gunned down by her husband, Jesús Hernandez Alcocer, at a Japanese restaurant called Suntory in the Benito Juarez neighborhood of Mexico City. The incident stems from a heated discussion centered around Lydya's desire to divorce Alcocer, due to domestic violence, and it escalated when the 79-year-old assailant opened fire in the middle of the eatery, completely shocking the patrons on hand. Lyda was shot three times in the chest and pronounced dead shortly thereafter. She was scheduled to perform at a live concert this Saturday in California. In addition to being a singer, actress and dancer, Lydya was also widely known as the daughter of a famous Mexican businessman named Carlos Quinones.
Immediately following the shooting, Alcocer, tried to flee the scene with his security guard, Benjamin Hernandez, but they were apprehended by law enforcement, but not before he allegedly tried to bribe the cops to let him go. The assailant has since pleaded not guilty to the charges related to the aforementioned crime. He is currently being held in a prison located in Mexico City.
