Recently, a judge in South Florida approved a final settlement for over $1 billion to the victims of a collapsed condominium building that killed 98 people. The incident was marked as one of the deadliest building failures in United States history. 

Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Michael Hanzman decided, saying the settlement was a “remarkable result.” $1.02 billion will go to the families who lost people in the fall of the 12-story condo building. Owners who lost one of the 136 units in the building are reportedly entitled to a part of the $96 million set aside.

New bodycam footage was released showing the harrowing aftermath of the Surfside, FL condo collapse. 

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the June 24 collapse which claimed the lives of 98 people. The videos released by authorities on Tuesday show first-responders and bystanders left in total shock behind the collapse and the chaos that ensued.
