In 2020, former mayor of Tallahassee Andrew Gillum was wrapped up in a scandal that found police responding to a call that led to Gillum being discovered unconscious with drugs and a male escort. Following the incident, Gillum would appear in interviews with his wife while addressing the situation, saying he’s bisexual. Now, Gillum is back in the news, as he was indicted on 21 federal counts of alleged wire fraud and made false statements to authorities.

Reports noted Gillum reached out to his colleagues to say, “Every campaign I’ve run has been done with integrity. Make no mistake that this case is not legal, it is political.” He continued, "There’s been a target on my back ever since I was the mayor of Tallahassee. They found nothing then, and I have full confidence that my legal team will prove my innocence now.”

The indictment against Gillum says two undercover FBI agents acted like real estate developers who wanted to buy city contracts. Gillum’s associate Sharon Lettman-Hicks was accused of illegal soliciting contributions and sending the funds over to Gillum under “payroll payments.” Stay tuned for more updates.
