Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving teamed up with the Brooklyn Nets in hopes of launching a new dynasty that would dominate the league for the duration of their respective primes. However, a witches brew of negative factors derailed the Nets hopes of reaching a championship two out of the last three seasons (the first season KD and Kyrie were in Brooklyn, Durant was injured).

But now it appears that Irving is on his way out of Brooklyn and it leaves the Nets and KD with tons to think about. According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, KD hasn't ruled out staying put even if Kyrie manages to get traded.

"I'm told that Kevin Durant has not told the Nets that if Kyrie Irving leaves, that means he's going to ask for a trade," Wojnarowski reported. "What Kevin Durant wants to know … what would a reconfigured Nets team look like? How would they try to reshape the roster so that the Nets would be able to return in the near-term and have a championship contender?"

But this isn't deterring teams from positioning themselves in the event that KD becomes available. As Woj stated on Wednesday, teams around the league are "rooting for Irving to opt out and walk away from the Nets, believing it would give them a chance to cobble together trade packages to acquire Durant."

However, ESPN's Brian Windhorst noted that Irving could simply be trying to "apply pressure to the Nets," and "no teams [are] making moves right now to try to clear space to try to make a path to give [Irving] a big contract."
