Recently, Edgar Berlanga faced off against Alexis Angulo in a super middleweight fight that went down at Madison Square Garden this past Saturday night. During the fight, Berlanga ended up biting his opponent’s left shoulder before making an attempt to bite Angulo’s left ear. Berlanga ended up winning the fight, but went on to issue an apology for pulling a “Mike Tyson.”
In his post-fight interview, Berlanga went on to say “He was throwing elbows. I was about to do a Mike Tyson on him. He kept throwing his elbows, and I didn’t want to get cut.” Berlanga then took to Twitter to express remorse for his actions the next day. “I want to apologize for my actions and what I said yesterday about the Mike Tyson bite. I was in the moment and I got a little ahead of myself. It doesn’t take away from the embarrassment that I have caused upon myself, my team, top ranks, and many others,” said Berlanga.
