According to reports, a Memphis man is being accused of stealing a woman's car before attempting to sell it back to her.
The suspect, Robert Mitchell, allegedly stole the woman's car from the Indigo Hotel in Memphis on May 23. She was later contacted on social media by a man who knew a friend of hers who told her she could get the car back for $3,000.
After asking for proof that he had the car, they set up a time and place to meet for the exchange. The woman informed police of the situation and they accompanied her to the meet up where they placed Mitchell in custody.
He was subsequently charged with auto theft and extortion.
