The U.S. Marshals Service’s fugitive apprehension team recently tried to apprehend a teenager named Tarrion Johnson upon serving him a warrant for attempted murder in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois.

The reason for their presence is that Johnson failed to appear in court in order to atone for his alleged crimes. According to reports, law enforcement tried to catch Johnson off-guard by barging through the rear door of his girlfriend's home. But when they encountered the 19-year-old in the hallway of the residence, he acted quickly on his feet by grabbing his gun and immediately opening fire.

Johnson fired the shots at the officers after he ran into the bedroom. As a result, a U.S. Marshal suffered a bullet wound to his hand, while his police dog caught the brunt of the gunfire. The K-9 suffered shattered bones in its shoulder, along with a bullet that remains stuck near its lungs. Upon being rushed to the intensive care unit of a local emergency veterinary hospital, it was determined that the dog's injuries were so serious that it may not be able to return to active duty in the field. Nevertheless, the K-9 survived.

Johnson was finally arrested after he tried to escape through a side door in the residence. Police on the scene discovered a semi-automatic ghost gun and three shell casings that were dislodged from a ghost gun.

In wake of the aforementioned shootout, Johnson was charged with five felony counts of attempted first-degree murder, two felony counts of attempted armed robbery, one felony count of aggravated cruelty to animals along with one felony count of injury to a police animal. After his hearing, a Cook County Judge ruled that Johnson was too much of a threat to the public to be released and denied his bond.
