After a long search, the Los Angeles Lakers have named Darvin Ham as their new head coach. Ham, a former NBA player and champion with the 2004 Detroit Pistons (the squad that beat Shaq, Kobe, GP, and Malone), and now-former assistant coach of the Milwaukee Bucks.
Ham brings championship experience to the job as both a player and coach, which seems to have the Lakers most important player, LeBron James, overly excited. Taking to Twitter after news broke of Ham's hire, Bron tweeted, "So damn EXCITED!!!!!!!! Congrats and welcome Coach DHam!!" Ham also received high praise and well wishes from Lakers great Magic Johnson. "I’m excited that the Lakers just hired Darvin Ham as the coach. Congratulations!!"
Despite the high-profile nature of the job, considering the team missed the playoffs and play-in tournament, and what to do about the elephant in the room known as Russell Westbrook, Ham definitely has his work cut out for him.
