Travis Scott has dealt with the backlash following the tragedy at his Astroworld Festival. Many partnerships were ended for the rapper, and he is reportedly facing a massive $750 million lawsuit from fans and the family of those lost in the tragic incident that occurred at the festival. As the rapper tries to make his way back into the music world with performances, he has been hit with another lawsuit related to a stampede during his 2019 Rolling Loud Festival set.
The lawsuit alleges that Scott incited a stampede after police told the rapper to stop his set at Rolling Loud due to the massive crowd getting out of control. Scott allegedly ignored the police and amped up his fans even more. A woman named Marchelle Love is suing the rapper, alleging that Scott was aware of what he was doing and could see that people in the crown were being hurt from the stampede. Despite seeing the incidents, Scott allegedly did nothing.
Since then, a spokesperson for Scott issued a statement, saying, “This is another blatant, cynical attempt to attack Travis, in this instance for a 3-year-old incident that is deliberately misrepresented. As even the complaint makes clear, this incident was related to a false report of a shooting mid-show, completely unrelated to Travis’s performance. The video shows police were informing Travis that the show was stopped for that reason - because of the false report - and he fully cooperated.”
The spokesperson said, “This cheap opportunism is based on a blatant lie that’s easy to detect. And it is particularly telling that this plaintiff’s lawyer didn’t even assert a claim against Travis when he originally filed the complaint on behalf of his client more than two years ago or in four prior VERSIONS of that complaint.” Stay tuned for more updates.
