Earlier this year, Gilbert Arenas spoke about a gun incident where he was charged with a felony and was handed a suspension from former NBA Commissioner. Since then, Arenas has spoken candidly about the incident and how it affected Javaris Crittenton, who has since gotten 23 years in prison.

Arenas said that Crittenton was his “young boy,” noting that he still speaks with him. Arenas talked about a moment where he helped Crittenton’s mother, who needed neck surgery. “We wasn’t getting NBA checks anymore, so his mother needed surgery for her neck. He asked me…”

He continued saying he took care of Crittenton because nobody wanted to work with him following the incident. “Even to this day, I send him cell phones.” When asked if he and Crittenton still speak, Arenas said, “We talk once a week, it’s just like were teammates. ‘What you think about this series, what you think about this?’ We just talk basketball.” Watch at the 14:20 mark.
