The man accused of attacking Dave Chappelle during his Netflix is a Joke set at the Hollywood Bowl recently spoke about the incident that resulted in the man being hospitalized. While in jail, Isaiah Lee talked to the New York Post about the situation.

Lee went on to tell the publication why he lunged at Chappelle. “I identify as bisexual… and I wanted him to know what he said was triggering,” said the alleged attacker. He continued saying, “I wanted him to know that next time, he should consider first running his material by people it could affect.”

As of now, Lee has pleaded not guilty to four misdemeanor charges against him, including possession of a weapon with intent to assault, battery, and unauthorized access to the stage area during a performance. Lee spoke on an exchange he and Chappelle had after the incident, saying, “I told him my mother and grandmother, who fought for his civil rights to be able to speak, would be upset at the things he said.” Lee claims Chappelle told him, “Now your story will die with you, son.” Stay tuned for more updates.
