Adreian Payne, a former power forward for the Minnesota Timberwolves, was shot and killed on Monday morning in Orlando, Florida. According to reports from local authorities, the former NBA first-round draft pick was allegedly gunned down by a man named Lawrence Dority (29). The suspect remained at the crime scene and had a brief conversation with the police before he was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Dority is now being held at the Orange County Jail in Orlando Florida.

Although Payne (31) played for three NBA teams over the course of an eight-year career as a professional basketball player, he was far more accomplished as a college athlete at the Michigan State, where he claimed Second-Team honors on the All-Big Ten team twice. When news of his untimely passing broke, Payne's former teammate at Michigan State University, Draymond Green, took to Twitter and posted four heartbroken emojis in his honor.
