Update 05/06/2022 8:56am:

According to reports, the man who tackled Dave Chappelle while at his Hollywood Bowl show—Isaiah Lee has been charged with misdemeanors by city officials.

The Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office declined to file felony charges against Lee but brought up multiple misdemeanor charges against him. City Attorney Mike Feuer issued a statement saying: “This alleged attack has got to have consequences, and this afternoon my office has filed charges alleging battery, possession of a weapon with intent to assault, and charges relating to interfering with a performance.” Feuer continued saying “My office takes protecting public safety extremely seriously and we're going to vigorously prosecute this case.” This came after the district attorney’s office said evidence in the situation constituted issuing a felony.

As of now, authorities haven’t given any information about a motive. According to the brother of Lee, the man has a history of mental illness, which he’s been prescribed medication for.

Footage from the show features the man tackling Chappelle toward the end of his set, knocking him to the ground. Law enforcement sources spoke to TMZ, and they revealed that the man was holding a replica of a semi-automatic gun, which had a knife attached to it.

The attacker was later arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, and Dave continued on with his set, telling the crowd, "I don't know if that was part of the show. I grabbed the back of that n***** head, his hair was spongy, absorbent." Check out the footage above.
