A DC woman who was recorded speaking about throwing her 2-month-old son's body in the trash after he allegedly died in his sleep, was killed by the child's father.

According to multiple reports, LaDonia Boggs, 39, was stabbed to death on Wednesday (April 27). Fifth District detectives responded to alerts of an incident at an apartment on the 1500 block of Benning Road around 3 am. They found Boggs inside, suffering from a stab wound. She was later declared dead on the scene.

Police later found and arrested Carl Jones, 44, who was charged with second-degree murder while armed. Jones is the father of Boggs' son, Kyon Jones, who was reported missing nearly a year ago. Kyon was last seen alive on May 5, 2021, but wasn't reported missing until two days later.

LaDonia Boggs was recorded saying that Kyon died in his sleep before she panicked and threw his body in the garbage. Boggs recalled the incident in a video obtained by WRC-TV, where she could be heard saying, "The last thing that I remember was that I had rolled over, and he was on my chest. After that, when I was 'sleep, rolled over, noticed he was unresponsive — breathing — and I panicked."

Court documents show that Boggs told police that she used PCP before accidentally rolling over on her son. His body has never been recovered, and Boggs was originally charged with felony murder. However, she was awaiting trial after her charges were changed to tampering with evidence.
