According to reports, a Family Dollar store employee allegedly opened fire on a would-be shoplifter and fatally wounding him.

Antonio Batres, 21, now faces a murder charge for shooting the 49-year-old man in the back following a “physical altercation.” The man allegedly attempted to steal goods from the store before being confronted by store employees, including Batres.

Batres and the would-be thief were then engaged in a physical altercation that led to the 21-year-old opening fire. “Further investigation determined the victim had his back toward Batres, who then pulled out a pistol and shot the victim several times,” authorities say.
