DJ Vlad was recently the subject of an interview for Variety and conducted by regular VladTV interviwer Shirley Ju.

During the conversation, Vlad discussed a number of topics ranging from his upbringing in Ukraine and his thoughts on the current geopolitical situation between Ukraine and Russia.

He transitioned into recounting how the VladTV platform was created and the way he carved out space for the channel on YouTube. According to Vlad, he knew the internet would be the wave dating back to his time as a undergraduate at UC Berkeley.  "I’d already understood the way the internet was working. I’d been f**king with the internet before there was a World Wide Web," said DJ Vlad. "At Berkeley, I remember when the first web browser came around, so I’d really been there from day one. I understood that there’s so much content out there and so much need for new content — that you’re never going to be able to overflow the internet."

Later, Vlad talked about some of the content from the platform that's gone viral recently, specifically his D.L. Hughley interview about Kanye West. In addition to discussing the Hughley interview, Vlad offered a bit of advice to Ye about managing his public relations - "Just put your phone down. Spend a week without your phone. Someone like a Kanye does not need their phone to communicate."
