Long after Steph Curry retires from the game of basketball, it will be nearly impossible to tell his story without mentioning the significant role that LeBron James played as his on-court nemesis. Not only did their teams face off four years in a row in the NBA Finals (2015, 2016, 2017 & 2019), but it has been widely speculated that LeBron's proclivity for building superteams comprised of multiple All-Star players in the prime of their careers is what led to the Golden State Warriors controversial free-agent acquisition of Kevin Durant.

The careers of Steph Curry and LeBron James will forever be intertwined. Although it may seem like a long time ago since Golden State Warriors last defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers in an NBA Finals match-up, some things never change. It appears as though LeBron is already focused on assembling yet another superteam, while his on-court rival Curry still seems to get a kick out of denying him from reaching his objective. Upon learning of LeBron's most recent declaration about wanting to play on the same team as Curry, the latter politely rejected the notion, suggesting that their last two All-Star appearances together would likely be as close as they will ever get to becoming teammates during an NBA regular season.

“I don’t know if [playing on the same All-Star team] suffices, but I’m good right now,” Curry said during an interview with a Bay Area sports radio program on 95.7 The Game. “Whenever you get the interest or curiosity of what it would be like to play with arguably [an] MVP-kind of caliber dude like he is, and the greatest of all-time, cool. That’s amazing.”

Only time will team if Steph Curry will make LeBron's on-court fantasy come true someday. But right now, both men are nursing injuries that have caused them to miss regular-season NBA games this week and all throughout the year.  So, as the nagging injuries continue to pile up, the notion of a Curry-James partnership may soon cease to exist with the prime of their careers nearing an inevitable conclusion.
