UFC fighter Kevin Holland is becoming somewhat of a local vigilante. Back in October, the welterweight fighter chased down a car thief and held him captive until the authorities arrived on the scene. This week, Holland added another notch to his belt in an act of bravery that saw him disarm an active shooter after he fired off his weapon inside of a Houston restaurant called Ra Sushi.

According to reports, the perpetrator shot his gun in the air, near the bar area of the restaurant sometime around 11:30 pm on Monday night. When the gunfire went off, there were about 50 customers in attendance but what the shooter did not count on is that there would be a pro fighter with a proclivity for heroic acts in his presence. Within moments of shooting his gun into the air, the perpetrator was taken down by Holland, and his training partner Patrick Robison, who were sharing a meal together at the eatery before the shots began.

“Me and my buddy, we ran to the shooter, got him down, strangled him, took the gun from him, and then called the police,” Robinson said during an interview that followed the incident. “We fight for a living, so it was just quick instincts.”

The mixed martial arts duo held the shooter down until the police arrived. Once the authorities apprehended the captive, they were quick to give a nod to the two customers who took action to save lives.

“If it wasn’t for the quick thinking of the good Samaritan taking the gun away, who knows what could have happened,” Sgt. Ricardo Salas, with the Houston Police Department.

The shooter was later identified as a 24-year-old man named Jesus Edrai Cardiel Samaniego. He is currently facing multiple charges.
