Kanye West has remained in the headlines since the beginning of this year, as the rapper has gone through a very public divorce from Kim Kardashian. Along the way, the rapper has been rubbing people the wrong way, as the lead singer of Slipknot recently called West a “f**king moron.” Now, the rapper has reportedly been subpoenaed in a case involving a fired employee’s fraud trial.
The rapper and his legal team were called in to testify in the trial of Arjun Dhillon, a former employee who was accused of taking $250,000 from a rich philanthropist. The subpoena was issued to Pryor Cashman LLP, representing Kanye. A lawyer for Dhillon is claiming that West hasn’t received the notice and that the firm “have so far refused to accept service.”
Allegations against Dhillon noted the person was “falsely representing his association with Kanye West to secure a $250,000 payment” from the rich donor. West’s name was initially listed as “Musician A” in the paperwork, but a new motion revealed West’s name to prevent bias among the jury surrounding Kanye’s appearance at the trial. The bank flagged the botched money transfer from the donor and stopped before Dhillon was able to convince the bank of his affiliation with the ‘jeen-yuhs’ rapper. As of now, jury selection in Dhillon’s case will begin on April 4.
