Eleven years ago, boxing legend Hector "Macho" Camacho was shot and killed by a group of assailants near a bar in his native country of Puerto Rico. Today, four of the living perpetrators were flown into the island in order to stand trial. The scene in San Juan is said to have been very intense as the murder suspects were surrounded by heavily armed police officers so that they could be escorted in and out of the courthouse.

After hours of deliberating, murder charges were handed down to the accused, much to the satisfaction of the former WBC Featherweight champion's mother.

"Justice! Justice has been done," shouted María Matías. "They gave me justice..I can sleep in peace. I can eat and drink a little cup of coffee in the morning."

Three of the suspects were already serving sentences in Florida for unrelated crimes, while the fourth suspect was arrested in the same city. A fifth suspect was already in a Puerto Rican prison for another case. According to the authorities, two other suspects were killed in unrelated events in 2013 and 2015.

The untimely slaying of Hector "Macho" Camacho may have also revealed some troublesome information about why he was killed. According to police reports, the murder took place while Camacho was sitting in a car with his friend Adrián Mojica Moreno.  Apparently, his countryman had nine small bags of cocaine in his pocket and a 10th bag that was open at the time of their death. Janet Parra, the public prosecutor that oversees the justice department's organized crime and drugs division, said that her team cannot share private information regarding the motive behind the killing just yet.

When it comes to the aforementioned murder,  William Rodríguez Rodríguez, Luis Ayala García, and Joshua Méndez Romero are being held on an $800,000 bond, while Jesús Naranjo Adorno is being held on a $300,000 bond. The fifth suspect, Juan Figueroa Rivera, is being held on a $1 million bond.
